4–8” rock, also known as riprap or large crushed stone, consists of angular stones ranging from 4 to 8 inches in diameter. These large, durable rocks are commonly used for erosion control, drainage management, and heavy-duty landscaping applications. Their size and weight make them ideal for stabilizing slopes, shorelines, creek beds, culvert outlets, and retaining walls.
Due to their ability to resist movement from water flow and weathering, 4–8” rock is often used to protect soil from erosion in high-impact areas. It can also serve as a decorative ground cover or as a barrier to prevent unauthorized vehicle access in certain areas.
Strong, long-lasting, and low-maintenance, this material is valued for its functionality as well as its natural, rugged appearance.
